C Student

Well, I wouldn't say I got an "A" in Beadmaking.  We had our final Beadmaking I class last night, and although I got a pep talk from the instructor, the results are quantifiable...and paltry.  Maybe I shouldn't say "paltry".  When it comes down to it, I just don't have the personality to be a beadmaker.  There are really too many technicalities...too much finessing...too much to remember...and there is the fact that you're playing with molten glass, which can really make certain people (me) nervous.  In the end, I was able to achieve a few mildly impressive milestones.  I was able to put bubbles in a bead (on purpose), I was able to make two beads of the same size and the same design, and I was able to "rake" several beads to a very high degree of success, in my opinion.  And to top it all off, my last class was my most creative class, by far.  I didn't feel as if I had to worry about making things perfect...I just tried whatever bead I felt I wanted to go for.

I took Beadmaking I because I love beads.  I'm bead-crazy.  I wanted to know more about beads, and now I know MUCH more about beads, so the class was a real success.  Would I recommend a beadmaking class to someone else?  Yes!  Go for it.  Especially if you have a steady hand and you're not intimidated by a torch.  It's a fun way to be creative.  Don't talk yourself out of it...just do it.  It's an experience.

As for my beadweaving, I've got a few projects going on.  I'm re-making a few of my favorites and I'm working on some new stuff.  Oh, and I'm having a ball.  The housework is suffering.

I know I said I would have my etsy shop up this week, and I promise you, I did make some headway, but there is actually a lot more involved than my little naive self thought there was, so I'm working through the roadblocks.  I have no real estimated "go live" date in mind yet.  But, I do have an etsy store front up...it's very bare bones right now.  You can find it at Boogdoodle Beads.

Enjoy your Friday!  TTFN!
